Why UMass Boston Matters
UMass Boston is rooted in the city that gives us our name, grounded in the strength of our diverse student body. We are of and for the Commonwealth, its communities, challenges, and aspirations. At the same time, we are rising to shine our beacon on the world, leading with teaching, research, and innovation. In 2022, the university developed a strategic plan for maximizing our impact over the next decade and beyond. We have launched this campaign to partner with donors in supporting UMass Boston's next chapter. That's where you come in.
Why Now
UMass Boston is rising as a vital force advancing access, equity, and excellence across the Commonwealth. In the past five years, philanthropic giving has reached $156 million, surpassing the previous decade. Annual giving has grown from $12 million to more than $31 million. Major gifts are accelerating, with more than 30 commitments of $1 million or more since 2019, along with broad-based support. Alumni engagement is at its highest, reflecting growing confidence in our trajectory.
