Amplify Your Gift

Matching Gifts

Corporate matching gifts are a great way for UMass Boston alumni, parents, and friends to maximize personal contributions to the university and increase the impact of their gifts. Many employers sponsor programs that match charitable contributions made by employees or their spouse/domestic partner.

Matching Gifts

Endowed Gifts

Current-use gifts are term-limited: once your giving ends, so does your impact. Endowed funds make your impact last forever by providing a steady annual distribution to the area of your choosing from the invested principal.

Planned Gifts

UMass Boston offers a full range of charitable gift planning services. These include helping you to make a bequest, create income through an annuity, or name the university as a beneficiary of an insurance policy.

Imagine the fruits of your lifetime continuing to enrich the lives of generations. Through a scholarship, a faculty fund, a student grant or stipend, or other designation you can create a legacy for the future and have a greater impact than you might have thought possible. Gift planning allows you to strengthen the university's mission, often while providing valuable tax benefits and/or income for life for you and your loved ones. Our planned giving professionals can assist you with leaving a bequest, creating income, or making UMass Boston a beneficiary of your assets.

Lampas Society: The Lampas Society recognizes alumni, faculty, and friends who support the university regardless of the size of their planned gift. Giving may be made through a bequest, life income gift arrangement, retirement plan (IRA, 401(k), 403(b)), life insurance policy, real estate gift, and other estate intentions.

The Importance of Donors

UMass Boston is rising. Over the past seven years, we have experienced extraordinary philanthropic support, signaling a new era of momentum, confidence, and possibility. This growth is deeper than numbers. It reflects belief. Belief in our students. Belief in our mission. Belief in the power of public higher education to transform lives and communities. Thanks to this belief and engagement from our donors, UMass Boston will accelerate its impact when access to education, groundbreaking research, and workforce development matter most.

Recognizing Your Generosity

Founder's Circle

The Founders’ Circle honors the extraordinarily generous leadership of donors whose gifts transform educational opportunities and outcomes through the creation of named professorships, endowed scholarship funds, and centers and institutes of distinction. Their gifts enhance the academic learning environment throughout our campus. We are exceedingly grateful for these donors, whose philanthropy totals $100,000 or more.

Founders’ Circle donors are honored on a mural in the Campus Center. To learn more about this recognition society, please contact Anna Boris at anna.boris@umb.edu.

Chancellor's Council

The Chancellor’s Council is composed of donors who make a meaningful gift to the area of their choosing each year. Membership is reserved for alumni, parents, and friends who make an annual gift of $1,000 or more to UMass Boston. Graduates of the past ten years can access membership at a lower leadership level: Alumni within five years of graduation become members with a $250 gift and those within six to ten years of graduation with a gift of $500.

To join the Chancellor’s Council or enhance your existing membership, please contact Casey McDonagh at casey.mcdonagh@umb.edu.

Loyal Beacons

Our Loyal Beacons make consistent annual gifts of any size. They are celebrated for their faithful generosity to our university’s mission year-over-year.

To learn more about our Loyal Beacons recognition society, please contact Anna Boris at anna.boris@umb.edu.

Lampas Society

The Lampas Society recognizes alumni, faculty, and friends who support the university with a planned gift. We firmly believe these donors should be celebrated during their lifetime and invite them to witness the legacy their future gift will inspire.

To learn more about how you can make a difference through a bequest or other planned gift, please contact Anthony Barbuto at Anthony.Barbuto@umb.edu.
